At the lost-found office of deportment store
Tom: Excuse me, could you help me?
Lost Property clerk: Yes. What seems to be the problem?
Tom: Well, I was wondering if anyone has turned in a passport.
Lost Property clerk: I'm afraid not. Have you lost your passport?
Tom: I think so. I can't find it anywhere in my hotel room, and I remember the last place I used it 
yesterday was in this department store. 
Lost Property clerk: Where exactly did you use your passport in the store?
Tom: In the suit-dress department. I had to show it to pay for these dresses with my traveler’s checks.
Lost Property clerk: Well, let me call the suit-dress department to see if they've found a passport.
(A minute later)
Lost Property clerk: Sorry-your passport's not been turned in there, either.
Tom: Then what shall I do?
Lost Property clerk: You can fill in this lost property report, and I'll keep my eye out for it. Those kinds of things usually turn up eventually, but I suggest you contact your embassy and tell them about your situation, so they can issue you a new passport in case it doesn't show up.
Tom: You're right. Do you have a pen?
Lost Property clerk: Here you are.
Tom: Oh, I seem to lose something every time I travel.

在百貨公司的失物招領處
湯姆: 對不起，能不能幫我一個忙？
失物管理員: 好的。有什麼問題嗎？
湯姆: 我想知道是否有人交來一本護照。
管理員: 恐怕沒有。你遺失了護照？
湯姆: 我想是的。我在飯店的房間裏都找不到。我記得昨天最後用護照的地方是在這百貨公司。
管理員: 你在百貨公司什麼確切的地方用過護照呢？
湯姆: 在女裝銷售部。我用信用卡買衣服的時候必須給他們看護照。
管理員: 這樣的話，我打電話給該部門，看看他們有沒有撿到護照。
（一分鐘之後）
管理員: 對不起---你的護照也沒被交到那邊。
湯姆: 那我該怎麼辦呢？
管理員: 你來填這張遺失報告表，我會替你留意的。像這樣的東西，最後總是會出現的。但我建議你跟你們的大使館聯繫並把你的情形告訴他們。萬一你的護照找不到的話，他們會給你補發新護照的。
